Pervious Concrete

This problem is sometimes also referred to as “porous” or “honeycomb” concrete. It is a structural issue that can be seen on both newer and older homes. It is typically a result of contractors using poor building materials or techniques, or from “bad” concrete mixtures that are not the proper strength. As the material ages, it becomes soft and starts to crumble and become very brittle in certain spots.

Some contractors feel as if the best way to take care of the problem is to tear the wall out and start over. However, this can be a very expensive, drawn-out, frustrating process that isn’t really necessary considering the improvements over the years in the repair industry.

Exterior Waterproofing

waterproofing before and after

To take care of the problem, St. Louis Basement Pros can install an exterior waterproofing membrane over the damaged area of concrete on the outside of your home. The membrane has tiny dimples in it that will allow water to pass through and into a drain system which will eventually direct the water into a sump pump and out of the home.
